Financial Analysis Training for Australian Business Leaders

Twelve-month program starting September 2025 — practical skills for better business decisions

Running a business in Australia means dealing with numbers every day. Profit margins, cash flow, tax planning — it all matters. But most business owners I've met weren't trained as accountants. They learned on the job, which works until it doesn't.

This program teaches financial analysis the way you'd actually use it. Real business scenarios, Australian tax considerations, practical tools you can apply immediately. No academic theory for theory's sake.

Questions We Address at Each Stage

People come to this program with different concerns depending on where they are. Here's what we focus on.

Before You Enroll

  • Will this actually help my specific business?
  • How much time commitment are we talking?
  • Can I start if my financial knowledge is basic?
  • What's the difference between this and hiring an accountant?
  • When does the September cohort actually begin?

During the Program

  • How do I apply this to my industry?
  • Can I get feedback on my business numbers?
  • What if I fall behind on modules?
  • Are there other business owners I can learn from?
  • When should I start implementing changes?

After Completion

  • How do I keep my analysis skills sharp?
  • Can I revisit course materials later?
  • What if my business situation changes?
  • Is there a community of past participants?
  • When should I consider advanced topics?

Ongoing Support Throughout Your Journey

Access to monthly office hours continues for six months after program completion. Because implementing financial analysis isn't a one-and-done thing — questions come up as your business evolves.

What the Program Covers

A mix of technical skills, practical applications, and real business context. Each module builds on previous ones, but you can revisit anything.

Financial documents and analysis tools spread across a desk

Reading Financial Statements

Balance sheets, P&L statements, cash flow reports — what they actually mean for your business. We use anonymized statements from Australian small businesses to show patterns and warning signs.

Cash Flow Analysis

Why profitable businesses still run out of money. Timing matters more than most people think, especially with payment terms common in Australian B2B.

Ratio Analysis

Current ratio, debt-to-equity, profit margins — the numbers that reveal business health. Plus industry benchmarks relevant to Australian markets.

"I'd been running my construction business for eight years without really understanding my margins. Thought I was doing fine. The first module showed me I'd been underpricing jobs by about 18%. Fixed that immediately."

Forecasting and Budgeting

Building realistic projections based on historical data. How to account for seasonality, market changes, and growth plans. We cover scenario planning — what happens if sales drop 20% or supplier costs increase?

Australian Tax Considerations

GST implications, corporate tax planning, and how business structure affects your financial position. This isn't tax advice — we teach you how to have better conversations with your accountant.

Cost Analysis

Fixed vs variable costs, breakeven analysis, and how to make pricing decisions that actually support business sustainability.

"The forecasting module changed how I plan for the year. I used to just hope things would work out. Now I model different scenarios and make decisions based on actual analysis."

Investment Decisions

When to invest in equipment, hire staff, or expand operations. ROI calculations that account for Australian market conditions and realistic growth timelines.

"Best part? The program uses real examples from businesses similar to mine. Not made-up textbook scenarios. I could see myself in every case study."

How the Program Works

Twelve months, organized into four quarters. Each builds on the previous, but the structure stays flexible for business owners with unpredictable schedules.

Foundation Quarter (Sept–Nov 2025)

Financial statement basics, accounting fundamentals, and understanding your current business position. We start with where you are now, not where you think you should be. Three live sessions plus weekly video modules you can watch whenever.

Analysis Quarter (Dec 2025–Feb 2026)

Ratio analysis, trend identification, and benchmarking against industry standards. Learning to spot problems before they become crises. Monthly group coaching calls where you can ask about your specific business.

Planning Quarter (Mar–May 2026)

Forecasting, budgeting, and strategic financial planning. Building systems you'll actually use after the program ends. This is where things get practical — you'll create plans for your business, not hypothetical examples.

Implementation Quarter (Jun–Aug 2026)

Putting everything into practice with guided support. You'll present your business analysis to the cohort (optional but recommended) and get feedback from peers who understand the challenges. Office hours twice monthly for troubleshooting.
